- Apple debuts iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus
- A huge leap forward for iPhone with a gorgeous new design featuring a durable, color-infused back glass and new contoured edge; the Dynamic Island; a 48MP Main camera with 2x Telephoto; and USB‑C
CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA Apple today announced and iPhone 15 Plus, featuring an industry-first color-infused back glass with a stunning, textured matte finish, and a new contoured edge on the aluminum enclosure. Both models feature the Dynamic Island, and an advanced camera system designed to help users take fantastic photos of everyday moments in their lives.
A powerful 48MP Main camera enables super-high-resolution photos and a new 2x Telephoto option to give users a total of three optical zoom levels — like having a third camera. The iPhone 15 lineup also introduces the next generation of portraits, making it easier to capture portraits with great detail and low-light performance.
Building on Apple’s innovative satellite infrastructure, Roadside Assistance via satellite can connect users to AAA if they have car trouble while off the grid. With A16 Bionic for powerful, proven performance; a USB‑C connector; Precision Finding for Find My friends; and industry-leading durability features, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus represent a huge leap forward.
- IPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be available in five stunning new colors: pink, yellow, green, blue, and black.
- Pre-orders begin Friday, September 15, with availability beginning Friday, September 22.
- IPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus represent a huge leap forward with exciting camera innovations that inspire creativity, the intuitive Dynamic Island, and features like Roadside Assistance via satellite that make a real difference in users’ lives,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing.
“We’re also pushing the power of computational photography to new levels this year with a 48MP Main camera featuring a new 24MP default for super-high-resolution photos, a new 2x Telephoto option, and next-generation portraits.” A Beautiful and Durable Design with an Advanced Display Available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display sizes, 1 iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus feature the Dynamic Island, an innovative way to interact with important alerts and Live Activities.
The elegant experience fluidly expands and adapts so users can see the next direction in Maps; easily control music; and, with third-party app integrations, get real-time updates on food delivery, ride sharing, sports scores, travel plans, and more. The Super Retina XDR display is great for watching content, streaming Apple Fitness+ workouts, and playing games.
Peak HDR brightness now reaches up to 1600 nits so HDR photos and videos look better than ever. And when it is sunny, peak outdoor brightness reaches up to 2000 nits — twice as bright as the previous generation. Both models feature a sophisticated new look that’s built to last.
For the first time in a smartphone, color is infused throughout the back glass, creating five beautiful colors. The back glass is strengthened with an optimized dual-ion exchange process before being polished with nanocrystalline particles and etched to create a luxurious, textured matte finish. A new contoured edge on the aerospace-grade aluminum enclosure feels even nicer in users’ hands, and the Ceramic Shield front cover continues to be tougher than any other smartphone glass.
With a water- and dust-resistant design 2 and industry-leading durability features, iPhone lasts and holds its value longer than any other smartphone. Plus, the internal design provides powerful sustained performance, while improving ease and affordability of repairs.
- A Powerful Camera to Capture Every Moment in Super-High Resolution The advanced camera system on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus helps users capture everyday moments and cherished memories.
- A 48MP Main camera shoots sharp photos and videos while capturing fine details, with a quad-pixel sensor and 100 percent Focus Pixels for fast autofocus.
Using the power of computational photography, the Main camera gives users a new 24MP super-high-resolution default, offering incredible image quality at a practical file size ideal for storing and sharing. By intelligently integrating hardware and software, an additional 2x Telephoto option gives users three optical-quality zoom levels — 0.5x, 1x, 2x — for the first time on an iPhone dual-camera system.
Next-generation portraits on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus feature sharper detail, more vivid colors, and improved low-light performance. For the first time, users can take portraits without having to switch to Portrait mode. When there’s a person, dog, or cat in the frame, or when a user taps to focus, iPhone automatically captures depth information, so users can turn photos into stunning portraits later in the Photos app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
For greater creative control, users can also adjust the focus point after the photo has been taken. Shooting at night gets better with improvements to Night mode, including sharper details and more vivid colors. When lighting is bright or uneven, new Smart HDR captures subjects and the background with more true-to-life renderings of skin tones, while ensuring photos have brighter highlights, richer midtones, and deeper shadows when viewed in the Photos app.
This advanced HDR rendering is also available to third-party apps, so images can look even better when shared online. These improvements benefit the 48MP Main camera, Ultra Wide camera, and TrueDepth front camera. A16 Bionic: Proven, Powerful Performance The fast and efficient A16 Bionic chip brings proven performance to iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, powering the Dynamic Island, computational photography capabilities, and more.
With two high-performance cores that use 20 percent less power and four high-efficiency cores, the 6-core CPU is faster than the previous generation and easily handles intensive tasks while delivering extraordinary battery life. The 5-core GPU has 50 percent more memory bandwidth for smooth graphics when streaming videos and playing games.
A new 16-core Neural Engine is capable of nearly 17 trillion operations per second, enabling even faster machine learning computations for features like Live Voicemail transcriptions in iOS 17 and third-party app experiences — all while protecting critical privacy and security features using the Secure Enclave.
Expanded Safety Capabilities for Peace of Mind The iPhone 15 lineup offers critical safety capabilities to provide assistance when it matters most, including Crash Detection 3 and Emergency SOS via satellite.4 Currently available in 14 countries and regions on three continents, Emergency SOS via satellite has made a significant impact in users’ lives.
- This groundbreaking safety service will come to Spain and Switzerland later this month.
- Building on this innovative satellite infrastructure, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus introduce Roadside Assistance via satellite.
- Beginning in the U.S., when a user has car trouble and cellular and Wi-Fi coverage are not available, they can now connect to AAA, the country’s largest roadside assistance provider.5 An intuitive interface, including a short questionnaire to capture important details, will transmit the information via satellite so AAA can message with the user directly and dispatch help to their exact location.
Access to Roadside Assistance via satellite will be included for free for two years. Service is covered according to AAA membership, but is also available separately for nonmembers.6 Powerful Connection Capabilities The iPhone 15 lineup offers convenient new ways to charge, find friends in busy places, and stay connected while traveling.
- Both models use a USB‑C connector, a universally accepted standard for charging and transferring data, allowing the same cable to charge iPhone, Mac, iPad, and the updated AirPods Pro (2nd generation).
- Users can also charge AirPods or Apple Watch directly from iPhone with the USB‑C connector.7 Both models support MagSafe and future Qi2 chargers for wireless charging.
Both models feature the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, enabling two iPhone devices with this chip to connect at three times the range as before. This opens up a new way to use Precision Finding for Find My friends, so iPhone 15 users can share their location and find each other, even in crowds.
Precision Finding is built with the same privacy protections that users have come to trust in Find My.8 iPhone 15 models continue to deliver a high-quality, superfast 5G experience 9 and improved audio quality on phone calls, including those made on FaceTime or third-party apps. Sound quality gets even better when users select Voice Isolation to come through loud and clear, even if they are somewhere noisy.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have eSIM, a more convenient and secure alternative to a physical SIM card, with support from more than 295 carriers. When traveling the world, users can stay connected through affordable international roaming plans from their existing carrier, or purchase prepaid eSIM plans in over 50 countries and regions, including Australia, Italy, Thailand, and more.
The Phone app gets major updates with Contact Posters, which allows users to customize how they appear to their contacts, and Live Voicemail, which leverages the power of A16 Bionic to see real-time on-device transcription as someone leaves a voicemail. Users can even pick up the call while the caller is leaving their message.
Messages gets a new stickers experience, more powerful search, transcription of audio messages, and Check In, which allows users to automatically notify friends and family when they have made it to their destination safely.
NameDrop gives users a new way to use AirDrop to more easily share contact information by simply bringing two iPhone devices together. The same gesture can be used to AirDrop content and more.
StandBy gives users a customizable full-screen experience with glanceable information designed to be viewed from a distance when iPhone is on its side and charging. With support for Live Activities, Siri, incoming calls, and larger notifications, StandBy is perfect for a nightstand, kitchen counter, or desk.
iOS 17 delivers many more updates, including Journal, 11 a new app that helps iPhone users reflect and practice gratitude through journaling; improvements to autocorrect and Dictation; greater protection for Private Browsing in Safari; password and passkey sharing with iCloud Keychain; pet recognition in Photos; and much more.
- Better for the Environment iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are designed with the environment in mind.
- As Apple continues to work toward its 2030 goal of making every product carbon neutral — from design to manufacturing to customer use — the company is prioritizing clean electricity across the entire supply chain and designing products with recycled and other low-carbon materials.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus now use even more recycled content, with 100 percent recycled cobalt in the battery and 100 percent recycled copper in the main logic board, copper wire in the Taptic Engine, and copper foil in the inductive charger in MagSafe — all firsts for iPhone.
Both models also include 75 percent recycled aluminum in the enclosure, 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in all magnets, and 100 percent recycled gold in the USB‑C connector as well as the gold plating and tin soldering in multiple printed circuit boards. The iPhone 15 lineup meets Apple’s high standards for energy efficiency and is free of mercury, PVC, and beryllium.
Over 99 percent of the packaging is fiber-based, bringing Apple closer to its goal of completely removing plastic from its packaging by 2025. To further reduce impact on the planet, Apple will no longer use leather in any new Apple products, including iPhone accessories.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be available in pink, yellow, green, blue, and black in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities, starting at $799 (U.S.) or $33.29 (U.S.) per month, and $899 (U.S.) or $37.45 (U.S.) per month, respectively.12

: Apple debuts iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus
Is iPhone 14 worth buying?
iPhone 14 vs. iPhone X – The iPhone X is almost 6 years old, which means it probably feels slow and its battery life isn’t what it used to be. With an iPhone 14, you’ll notice a major upgrade in both categories, as well as design, improved durability, connectivity and camera quality.
- But if you’re in a position to do so, you should wait and see what the expected iPhone 15 has to offer.
- If you can’t wait until September, which is when Apple typically releases new iPhones, here’s what you’ll get by upgrading to the iPhone 14.
- The iPhone X runs on a much older A11 Bionic chip that’s now roughly 6 years old, while the iPhone 14 runs on Apple’s much more recent A15 Bionic processor.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max run on Apple’s newer A16 Bionic chip. Both new processors are way ahead of the A11 chip, which only has a two-core neural engine compared to the A15 Bionic’s 16-core neural engine. The iPhone’s neural engine powers tasks that rely on machine learning and artificial intelligence, which are becoming a bigger part of the iPhone experience.
Things like app suggestions in the App Library and Apple’s Translate app rely on machine learning to function, which indicates that the iPhone X may struggle to keep up with newer capabilities. The iPhone X also has a dual-lens camera similar to that of the iPhone XS, meaning it’s missing the iPhone 14’s camera hardware improvements in addition to Night mode, Deep Fusion and the ability to control depth-of-field and blur levels in Portrait mode.
Like the iPhone XS, you’re only getting a 7-megapixel front camera compared to a 12-megapixel selfie camera on Apple’s newer phones. Apple’s more than five-year-old iPhone also has shorter battery life, with Apple estimating it should last for 13 hours when playing back video compared to 20 hours on the iPhone 14.
- The iPhone 14’s 6.1-inch screen is bigger than the 5.8-inch display on the iPhone X, and it should also be brighter since it can reach 800 nits of max brightness compared to the iPhone X’s 625-nit screen.
- The iPhone 14 supports Dolby Atmos and spatial audio playback, while the iPhone X just has stereo playback.
That’s probably not a deal-breaker, but might be crucial if you watch a lot of video on your phone without headphones. And of course, there’s the benefit of getting car-crash detection, Apple’s new emergency SOS messaging via satellite option, better water resistance (up to 6 meters for 30 minutes versus 1 meter), 5G support, more storage space, Ceramic Shield for the display, a refreshed design and the option to use MagSafe accessories on the iPhone 14.
The bottom line : If you have the iPhone X, it’s time to upgrade. The iPhone 14 will feel new in just about every way, from the camera to performance, battery life and the way it looks and feels. And the iPhone X doesn’t support Apple’s upcoming software upgrade, iOS 17, so you’ll be missing out on new features.
But if you’ve waited this long, it’s a good idea to hang in there just a little longer for the expected iPhone 15. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Gabriel Sama/CNET
How much will iPhone 15 cost?
How much more expensive are today’s iPhones? – The tradition of presenting the newest iPhones each year has continued since the late Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, announced the first iPhone in 2007. The era-defining piece of technology has become the world’s most popular smartphone and Apple’s best-selling product.
- The first iPhone released retailed at a whopping $499.
- However, the following year, Apple’s revamp of the iPhone 3G was far more affordable at $199.
- The prices of iPhones stayed steady after the 2009 release of the iPhone 3GS.
- That was until the release of the iPhone 5c which hit the market in 2013 with more vibrant colours and a friendlier $99 price tag.
The product marked the cheapest iPhone in history. With gradually increasing prices and the market’s need for a tech-filled phone, iPhone prices climbed up the ladder since the rollout of the Plus models–the bigger and more expensive silhouette designed to carry a bigger screen.
- It wasn’t until 2017 that Apple surprisingly released the new iPhone X and brought the prices of iPhones to new heights.
- The $999 price tag was formidable for many, but more started to adapt.
- At $799, the entry-level iPhone 15 shares the same starting price as the past three models, from the iPhone 12 (2020) to the iPhone 14 (2022).

What will the iPhone 16 be like?
The iPhone 16 series is expected to gain an additional capacitive button, known internally as the “Capture Button.” Codenamed “Project Nova,” the button is likely to be one of the main selling points of the iPhone 16 lineup, assuming it gets past the initial testing phase. The Capture Button is expected to be a capacitive button rather than a standard mechanical one. Capacitive buttons, unlike mechanical buttons, do not move when pressed down. Instead, the button detects pressure and touch, providing haptic feedback through the use of haptic engines.
- The buttons are expected to work similarly to the Home Button on the iPhone SE, which mimics the press of a physical button through the built-in Taptic Engine.
- According to our sources, the capacitive buttons will feature force sensor functionality.
- Force sensors detect applied force, and convert the magnitude of force into electrical signals.
Early in the development of the iPhone 15 Pro, Apple experimented with capacitive buttons on the iPhone in the form of the since-canceled Bongo project, The Bongo module, unlike the Capture Button, consisted of capacitive Power and Volume buttons, and didn’t bring any additional buttons into the mix.
Based on what we’ve heard from our sources, the Bongo module was canceled during the EVT stage of development, after unsatisfactory test results and a significant number of hardware issues. The cancelation left Apple engineers with ample room to reimagine the capacitive buttons for the iPhone 16 series, with an entirely new twist this time around.
Unlike the Bongo project, the Capture Button is set to make its debut across the entire iPhone 16 lineup, including the base model iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. It is worth noting, though, that Apple also created a hardware configuration without the Capture Button button, possibly as a fallback variant in the event of continued hardware failure rates. Along with the new Capture Button, the iPhone 16 lineup is expected to gain a capacitive Action Button. Known as “Project Atlas,” the haptic Action Button uses a design similar to the Capture Button, using strain gauges and reluctance motor to provide the necessary haptic feedback.
- In addition to the Capture Button and upgraded Action Button, the base model iPhone 16 is expected to feature a redesigned camera bump, with vertical camera arrangement akin to the iPhone 12.
- The Pro models are also set to feature an increase in screen size, from 6.1″ and 6.7″ to 6.3″ and 6.9″, respectively.
It is important to consider that the information presented here is pre-production information. The iPhone 16 lineup is still in the early stages of development, and the design has not been finalized. Because of this, there is always a chance that we may not see the Capture Button on the final product.
Is the iPhone 15 the last iPhone?
Beyond the iPhone 15 – Apple is already working on the iPhone 16 lineup, which will arrive in 2024. As with the iPhone 15 lineup, many of the most cutting-edge changes will be aimed primarily at the iPhone 16 Pro models. We could see larger display sizes, a faster A18 chip, Wi-Fi 7 support, and a new 48-megapixel Ultra Wide camera.
What is the difference between iPhone 14 and 15?
Like the cameras, the performance of the iPhone 15 should also be a lot better than the iPhone 14. Apple includes its A16 Bionic processor in its latest phone, which gives you faster everyday performance, better graphics performance while gaming and improved efficiency.
Is iPhone 14 or 13 better?
iPhone 13 vs iPhone 14: Which should you buy? – The differences between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 are minor. In fact, this might be one of the smallest year-over-year iPhone upgrades in recent memory. There are some improvements to the camera along with the addition of features like Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via Satellite.
- Because of the minor changes, however, it’s hard to reccomend anyone who currently has an iPhone 13 to upgrade to the iPhone 14.
- In day-to-day use, many of the changes won’t be noticeable.
- The design is the same, the performance is nearly identical, and battery life is about the same.
- In fact, it’s also hard to reccomend upgrading from the iPhone 12 to the iPhone 14.
If you’re using something like an iPhone 11 or older, you’ll notice some bigger changes when you jump all the way to the iPhone 14. The cameras will be noticeably better, there’s a nice boost in performance, and you should benefit from some improvements to battery life.
If you’re shopping for a new iPhone, this is a tricky decision to make. For many people, the iPhone 13 is more than enough. You still get excellent performance, a great camera, and a modern design for $100 less than the iPhone 14. If you have the money to spend, however, you should consider going for the iPhone 14 because of those camera upgrades.

Why is iPhone 14 cheaper?
Like all Apple hardware, iPhones are expensive, but this high cost comes with the reassurance of knowing they will hold their value. Or it did, because a new report reveals iPhone 14 buyers are in for a shock. Popular used phone retailer SellCell, has published a detailed depreciation report comparing iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models and found that Apple’s new handset loses value twice as fast as its predecessor.
But it isn’t bad news for all new models. iPhone 14 Pro models are holding their value much better than base models NurPhoto via Getty Images Breaking down the data, SellCell found that iPhone 14 models lose 40% of their value within 10 days. This compares to an average of just 18% for the iPhone 13. In contrast, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models perform in line with, if not slightly better than, their predecessors, losing approximately 20% of their value.
So what is hitting iPhone 14 prices so hard? SellCell cites the cost of living crisis, which is understandable, given buyers of cheaper models typically have less money to spend. But the other major factor is how modest an upgrade the entry-level iPhone 14 is.
Consumers’ perceived lack of innovation within the iPhone 14 base range has led to poor take-up of the device, post physical release,” explains the report. “This means demand is low on the resale market, too, so the value of the base range has dropped significantly.” iPhone 14 price depreciation is far higher than its predecessors SellCell This aligns with market data from supply chain specialist Ross Young, who reports iPhone 14 sales are down 38% compared to the iPhone 13, while iPhone 14 Pro Max sales are up 18% versus the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Explaining its methodology, SellCell said it analysed trade-in values of the iPhone 14 series of handsets, with value data for “Like New” handsets taken from over 40 trusted buyback vendors, 10 days following Apple’s physical release of the iPhone 14 on September 16, 2022.
It then compared like-for-like data for the iPhone 13 lineup. In reality, the iPhone 14 is a victim of Apple’s determination to widen the gap between Pro and non-Pro models. This meant not just giving Pro models superior specs but holding the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus back by reusing a lot of iPhone 13 hardware.
The one upside is repairability is much improved, which surprisingly does not extend to Pro models. Ultimately, however, if second-hand values matter to you, the message for iPhone 14 buyers is Go Pro or Say No, iPhone 15 leaks have already revealed far more ambitious smartphones, so those who wait look set to be rewarded.
Is iPhone 14 waterproof?
Can I use the iPhone 14 underwater? – You can take your new phone to the pool. Gone are the days of instant death to your phone if it was dropped in water. The new iPhone 14 can withstand about 19 feet for up to 30 minutes underwater which means in the event that you do drop your phone in the water, you can jump in and save it.
- However, be careful around sand and the ocean as the salt water’s corrosive nature can cause more damage than you bargained for.
- Now that age and damage to the body of the phone may severely impact water resistance over time.
- To avoid pushing it too far and take a few underwater photos, invest in a waterproof case that makes your phone close to waterproof.
Some of these phone cases let you take your phone safely down to 10 feet deep.
Will iPhone 15 be bigger?
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus review – External Appearances – Looking at the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus from the front with the screens off, there’s very little design difference other than materials and color choices versus the iPhone 14. A close inspection shows the TrueDepth camera system is a bit lower, but that’s all you get from the front. iPhone 15 review: The iPhone 15 lineup doesn’t have very bright colors The colors are weak in every possible regard. The glass is well-crafted, but it reminds me very much of a frosted shower door from the Miami Vice -infused ’80s, with very muted pastel colors to match.
- Clearly, several somebodies in Cupertino aren’t fans of color saturation and decided to just wave a color swatch past the iPhone glass during the dyeing process, instead of making an actual colorization effort.
- This is an exaggeration, of course, as there is the faintest hint of color — but we can’t say this any clearer, it is just a hint.
This won’t matter much for the “my iPhone must have a case on it” crowd, but the color selections in the iPhone 15 lineup are milquetoast, and unremarkable. Photography of the different colors is hard too. In too-bright or too-dim light, the entire lineup looks white.
- In fact, when I opened up the box for this review, I had to double-check with the documentation I was provided that the box was packed correctly with the proper color phone.
- We get it.
- Material selection is hard, and that material selection coupled with what Apple wants from scratch resistance from color coatings is difficult.
But, wow, are these colors plain. iPhone 15 review: Black iPhone 15 Plus Anyway, there’s also not much to say about size and weight, though the new models are very slightly lighter and larger. At 5.81 inches long and 2.82 inches wide, the iPhone 15 is very fractionally longer than the iPhone 14, while the iPhone 15 Plus is 6.33 inches by 3.06 inches.
Will iPhone 15 be more expensive than 14?
Remember when the first iPhone came out in 2007 and it cost a whopping $499? That was a lot of money back then, but it was just the beginning. The price of Apple’s iconic product has steadily – sometimes dramatically – increased, due to a wide array of factors, like improved technology and features, as well as inflation.
- As a publicly listed company, Apple also faces consistent pressure to keep growing its booming iPhone business, which brings in nearly half its revenue.
- But how much more can Apple charge for its iPhones ? The iPhone has only become more expensive over the last 15 years, even when you adjust for inflation.
The trend of rising iPhone prices, however, is not consistent or predictable. Apple adjusts its pricing strategy based on various factors, including consumer demand, competitive pressures and inflation, which tends to increase the cost of producing an iPhone.
- Read more : Apple Event 2023: Anticipation Builds for the iPhone 15 and Beyond ‘ Despite the slowing smartphone market, Apple seems to be confident in its ability to charge more for its iPhones this year.
- According to various rumors and reports, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could see a price increase of $100 or even $200 compared to the iPhone 14 models – in the US.
Apple may justify this price hike by offering some exclusive features and improvements for the Pro models, such as a titanium body, a faster processor, skinnier bezels and a better camera. Last year, Apple increased prices last year outside the US, in some Asian and European countries whose currencies had dropped against the dollar ahead of the 2022 iPhone event.
Shoppers in the UK had to contend with a price increase of approximately $85 for the iPhone 14, which starts at £849 compared to the iPhone 13’s price tag of £779. Meanwhile, people in Japan were dealt one of the highest prices globally, approximately $150 more, due mostly to a slumping yen. But the iPhone 14 didn’t see a price hike in mainland China, Apple’s largest market outside the US, despite a drop in the country’s yuan currency.
Still, major retailers reportedly slashed prices of iPhone 14 models amid a slump in smartphone demand there.

- PRESS RELEASE
- Apple unveils iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
- Featuring a strong and lightweight titanium design with new contoured edges, a new Action button, powerful camera upgrades, and A17 Pro for next-level performance and mobile gaming
CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA Apple today debuted iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, designed with aerospace-grade titanium that’s strong yet lightweight to deliver Apple’s lightest Pro models ever. The new design also features contoured edges and a customizable Action button, allowing users to personalize their iPhone experience.
Powerful camera upgrades enable the equivalent of seven pro lenses with incredible image quality, including a more advanced 48MP Main camera system that now supports the new super-high-resolution 24MP default, the next generation of portraits with Focus and Depth Control, improvements to Night mode and Smart HDR, and an all-new 5x Telephoto camera exclusively on iPhone 15 Pro Max.
A17 Pro unlocks next-level gaming experiences and pro performance. The new USB‑C connector is supercharged with USB 3 speeds — up to 20x faster than USB 2 — and together with new video formats, enables powerful pro workflows that were not possible before.1 And with the addition of Roadside Assistance via satellite, the builds on Apple’s innovative satellite infrastructure to connect users to help if they have car trouble while off the grid.
IPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available in four stunning new finishes, including black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium, and natural titanium. Pre-orders begin Friday, September 15, with availability beginning Friday, September 22. “This is the most pro lineup we have ever created, with a state-of-the-art titanium design, the best iPhone camera system yet that enables game-changing new workflows, and the A17 Pro chip, which ushers in a new chapter of performance and games never before seen on iPhone,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
“iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max represent the best of Apple design and industry-first innovations to help enrich the everyday experiences of our users, while enabling them to unleash their creativity.” A Stunning, Lightweight, and Durable Design Available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display sizes, 2 iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max feature a strong and lightweight titanium design — a first for iPhone.
- This premium alloy — the same used in spacecraft — has one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any metal, making this Apple’s lightest Pro lineup ever.
- Both models feature a new refined brush texture, contoured edges, and the thinnest borders on iPhone.
- The Pro lineup is built to last, combining the strength of titanium with the toughest back glass in a smartphone and the industry-leading Ceramic Shield on the front.
Using an industry-first thermo-mechanical process, the titanium bands encase a new substructure made from 100 percent recycled aluminum, bonding these two metals with incredible strength through solid-state diffusion. The aluminum frame helps with thermal dissipation and allows the back glass to be easily replaced.
This new design highlights the Super Retina XDR display with Always-On and ProMotion technologies for an exceptional viewing experience. The all-new Action button replaces the single-function switch used to toggle between ring and silent, offering additional options so users can choose between quickly accessing the camera or flashlight; activating Voice Memos, Focus, Translate, 3 and accessibility features like Magnifier; or using Shortcuts for more options.
A press-and-hold gesture with fine-tuned haptic feedback and visual cues in the Dynamic Island ensure the new button launches the intended action. A17 Pro: A New Generation of Apple Silicon for iPhone Bringing pro performance and capabilities, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are powered by A17 Pro, the industry’s first 3-nanometer chip.
- Continuing Apple’s leadership in smartphone silicon, A17 Pro brings improvements to the entire chip, including the biggest GPU redesign in Apple’s history.
- The new CPU is up to 10 percent faster with microarchitectural and design improvements, and the Neural Engine is now up to 2x faster, powering features like autocorrect and Personal Voice in iOS 17.
The pro-class GPU is up to 20 percent faster and unlocks entirely new experiences, featuring a new 6-core design that increases peak performance and energy efficiency. Now with hardware-accelerated ray tracing — which is 4x faster than software-based ray tracing — iPhone 15 Pro offers smoother graphics, as well as more immersive AR applications and gaming experiences.
iPhone 15 Pro brings true-to-life gaming to the palm of users’ hands with console titles never before seen on a smartphone, like Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, Death Stranding, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage.4 A17 Pro includes a dedicated AV1 decoder, enabling more efficient, high-quality video experiences for streaming services.
Additionally, a new USB controller enables USB 3 speeds on iPhone for the first time, now supporting much higher transfer speeds and video output up to 4K at 60 fps HDR. A Powerful Pro Camera System for More Creative Control Through a deep integration of hardware and software, the advanced camera systems on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max both pack the equivalent of seven pro lenses — all enabled by A17 Pro.
With the power of computational photography, the 48MP Main camera, built exclusively for the Pro lineup, gives users even more flexibility with a new 24MP super-high-resolution default, offering incredible image quality at a practical file size ideal for storing and sharing. The Main camera allows users to switch between three popular focal lengths — 24 mm, 28 mm, and 35 mm — and even choose one as a new default.
In addition to 48MP ProRAW, the Main camera also supports 48MP HEIF images with 4x more resolution. iPhone 15 Pro features an expansive 3x Telephoto camera, and iPhone 15 Pro Max provides the longest optical zoom ever on iPhone: 5x at 120 mm. Great for close-ups, wildlife photos, and catching the action from further distances, the new Telephoto camera on iPhone 15 Pro Max has an innovative tetraprism design with a combined optical image stabilization and autofocus 3D sensor-shift module, Apple’s most advanced stabilization system yet.
Next-generation portraits on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max feature sharper detail, more vivid colors, and better low-light performance.
Additional features that benefit all cameras on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max include:
Night mode gets better with sharper details and more vivid colors, now powered by the Photonic Engine, including Night mode portraits, enabled by the LiDAR scanner.
New Smart HDR captures subjects and the background with more true-to-life renderings of skin tones, while ensuring photos have brighter highlights, richer midtones, and deeper shadows when viewed in the Photos app. This advanced HDR rendering is also available to third-party apps, so images can look even better when shared online.
The best quality video in a smartphone is upgraded thanks to A17 Pro, with improvements in low-light video and Action mode.
The preferred smartphone for creative pros and filmmakers gets even better with new pro workflows. Users can now get up to 20x faster transfer speeds with an optional USB 3 cable. iPhone and third-party solutions like Capture One also help photographers create a pro studio, allowing them to shoot and instantly transfer 48MP ProRAW images from iPhone to Mac.
ProRes video can be recorded directly to external storage, enabling higher recording options up to 4K at 60 fps, and greater flexibility on set when using iPhone as the main camera. iPhone 15 Pro also introduces a new option for Log encoding and is the first smartphone in the world to support ACES, the Academy Color Encoding System, a global standard for color workflows.
Coming later this year, iPhone 15 Pro will add a new dimension to video capture with the ability to record spatial video for Apple Vision Pro. Users will be able to capture precious moments in three dimensions and relive those memories with incredible depth on Apple Vision Pro when it is available early next year in the U.S.
- Next-Level Wireless Performance and Connectivity The iPhone 15 Pro lineup offers convenient new ways to charge, find friends in busy places, and stay connected while traveling.
- Both models use the USB‑C connector, a universally accepted standard for charging and transferring data, allowing the same cable to charge iPhone, Mac, iPad, and the updated AirPods Pro (2nd generation).
Users can also charge AirPods or Apple Watch directly from iPhone with the USB‑C connector. iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max support USB 3 for data transfer speeds up to 10 gigabits per second, up to 20x faster than before. Both models feature the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, enabling two iPhone devices with this chip to connect at three times the range as before.
- This opens up a new way to use Precision Finding for Find My friends, so iPhone 15 users can share their location and find each other, even in crowds.
- Precision Finding is built with the same privacy protections that users have come to trust in Find My.5 iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max now support Wi-Fi 6E for greater wireless performance, including up to 2x faster speeds, and introduces the first Thread-enabled smartphones, opening up future opportunities for Home app integrations.
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max come equipped with super-fast 5G, 6 and include:
Support for MagSafe and future Qi2 wireless charging.
Improved audio quality on phone calls, including those made on FaceTime or third-party apps. Sound quality gets even better when users select Voice Isolation, so conversations come through loud and clear, even if they are somewhere noisy.
eSIM with support from more than 295 carriers. When traveling the world, users can stay connected through affordable international roaming plans from their existing carrier, or purchase prepaid eSIM plans in over 50 countries and regions, including Australia, Italy, Thailand, and more.
Expanded Safety Capabilities for Peace of Mind The iPhone 15 lineup offers critical safety capabilities to provide assistance when it matters most, including Crash Detection 7 and Emergency SOS via satellite.8 Currently available in 14 countries and regions on three continents, Emergency SOS via satellite has made a significant impact in users’ lives.
- This groundbreaking service will come to Spain and Switzerland later this month.
- Building on this innovative satellite infrastructure, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max introduce Roadside Assistance via satellite.
- Beginning in the U.S., when a user has car trouble and cellular and Wi-Fi coverage are not available, they can now connect to AAA, the country’s largest roadside assistance provider.9 An intuitive interface, including a short questionnaire to capture important details, will transmit the information via satellite so AAA can message with the user directly and dispatch help to their exact location.
Access to Roadside Assistance via satellite will be included for free for two years. Service is covered according to AAA membership, but is also available separately for nonmembers.10 Featuring iOS 17 iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max feature iOS 17, 11 making iPhone even more personal and intuitive with new features:
The Phone app gets major updates, with Contact Posters that allow users to customize how they appear to their contacts, and Live Voicemail, which leverages the power of A17 Pro to see real-time on-device transcription as someone leaves a voicemail.
The same gesture can be used to AirDrop content and more, and now users can step away from each other and finish sending large files over the internet.12
StandBy gives users a customizable full-screen experience with glanceable information designed to be viewed from a distance when iPhone is on its side and charging. With the Always-On display of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, StandBy stays on to show useful information — perfect on a desk, nightstand, or kitchen counter.
Interactive widgets on the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and in StandBy allow users to take action with just a tap, making it easy to complete a to-do, or play or pause a song right from the widget.
Safari adds greater protection for Private Browsing and introduces profiles, helping users separate their browsing for topics like work and personal.
iOS 17 delivers many more updates, including Journal, 13 a new app that helps iPhone users reflect and practice gratitude through journaling, improvements to autocorrect and Dictation that make entering text faster and easier than ever before, password and passkey sharing with iCloud Keychain, and much more.
Better for the Environment iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are designed with the environment in mind. As Apple continues to work toward its 2030 goal of making every product carbon neutral — from design to manufacturing to customer use — the company is prioritizing clean electricity across the entire supply chain and designing products with recycled and other low-carbon materials.
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max now use more recycled content, with a 100 percent recycled aluminum substructure and 100 percent recycled cobalt in the battery — both firsts for Apple. iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max also include 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in all magnets and 100 percent recycled gold in the USB‑C connector as well as the gold plating and tin soldering in multiple printed circuit boards.
Both models meet Apple’s high standards for energy efficiency and are free of mercury, PVC, and beryllium. Over 99 percent of the packaging is fiber-based, bringing Apple closer to its goal of completely removing plastic from its packaging by 2025. To further reduce impact on the planet, Apple will no longer use leather in any new Apple products, including iPhone accessories.
Apple is introducing a new FineWoven Case with MagSafe and FineWoven Wallet with MagSafe, made from a durable and elegant microtwill with a soft, suedelike feel. The material is made from 68 percent post-consumer recycled content and has significantly lower carbon emissions compared to leather.
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available in black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium, and natural titanium finishes. iPhone 15 Pro remains at the same starting price of $999 (U.S.) or $41.62 (U.S.) per month, available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage capacities. iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at $1,199 (U.S.) or $49.95 (U.S.) per month, available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage capacities.

Is 16 GB iPhone good?
Depends upon your usage! If you are just a casual storage consumer who likes to take pictures, use some social apps and listen to music than you are good to go! But if you want to play games, install a bunch of applications, shoot videos and stuff than you should not consider a 16gb iPhone model!
Will iPhone 7 get 16?
iOS 16: Only these iPhone models will get new features, here is why Apple has released iOS 16, the newest version of its iPhone operating system for all iPhone users. The iOS 16 is compatible with all iPhone 8 and newer models, leaving out the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6s series.
- However, all features of the update will not be available on all iPhone models mentioned above.
- Some iOS 16 features will be exclusive to iPhones with the A12 Bionic chip or newer, while some features are exclusive only to the new iPhone 14 series.
- Here is a look at the iOS 16 features that will be exclusive to only a few iPhone models.
Lifting subjects out of images With iOS 16, users can select and isolate subjects from photos in the Photos app by holding down on a photo for a few seconds. The subject of the photo can then be dragged out of the Photos app and into messages, mail, notes, and more.
- Since the feature works by using advanced neural networking and image detection, it is only available on devices with the A12 Bionic, that is the iPhone XS and later.
- All-new dictation experience
- The iOS 16 has a redesigned dictation experience that better leverages on-device machine learning for more accurate voice-to-text.
Since the new dictation experience uses on-device machine learning, it is limited to devices with processors that can handle the heavy work. Thus, it is available only on iPhones with the A12 Bionic chip, that is iPhone XS and above. Live captions for videos and calls With iOS 16, users can activate Live Captions for videos and even live FaceTime calls, providing real-time captioning for what’s being said.
- However, the new battery percentage toggle will not be available on the iPhone 11, iPhone XR, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini.
- Features exclusive to iPhone 14 models
- Cinematic Mode in 4k: This feature allows users to select between 1080p at 30 fps, 4k at 24 fps, or 4K at 30 fps quality when recording videos in Cinematic mode on iPhone 14 models.
- Action Mode: The new iPhone 14 also offers the Action Mode which stabilises the video and reduces significant shakes, motion, and vibrations, even when the video is being captured in the middle of the action.

Does iOS 16 overheat iPhone?
Why does my iPhone overheat after iOS 16 update? –
- Here are some common reasons behind iOS 16 overheating issues.
- Apps running in the background
- After updating to new iOS, your iPhone may still be updating apps in the background and running new features like searching for duplicate photos, so you’ll feel that the iPhone is overheating in iOS 16.
- Bugs in software or apps
The iOS 16 may have a bug that makes iPhone overheat. In addition, apps that have not been optimized to work with iOS 16 will make the iPhone be hot. Heavy Usage Using several high-powered apps at the same time can also cause iOS 16 overheating issues.
- Long sessions of streaming or gaming require a lot of power from the screen, CPU, GPU, and other components.
- Faulty Components A faulty battery can release irregular power and make iPhone overheat.
- In addition, your iPhone can also overheat if there is a problem with the processor or charging port.
- High-temperature Environment High temperature and direct sunlight will make an iPhone overheat.
Excessive moisture can damage the electronic components in the device and make it hotter than usual.

Which iPhone Has the Best iPhone Camera? – The current flagship iPhone leads the way for quality and versatility. But the other iPhone cameras in this review are all worth a look. Especially if your budget won’t stretch to a brand-new iPhone 14 Pro.

When Apple released the iPhone 14 in September 2022, it marked a significant jump in camera specs. The previous flagship—the 13 Pro Max—had a 12 MP main camera. The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max pushed this to 48 MP. Interestingly, they use this 48 MP capacity to give what Apple calls “optical-quality zoom.” In effect, you shoot in 48 MP RAW and can zoom (aka crop) to a 12 MP 2x telephoto.
- We’ve put the Pro and Pro Max together in this review.
- That’s because their photography capabilities are the same.
- The difference is in the size of the screen.
- If you don’t mind the extra size, you’ll get to appreciate your photos much more on the bigger screen.
- The 48 MP main camera on the iPhone Pro/Pro Max is a 24mm f/1.78 seven-element lens.
It is notable for its quad-pixel construction and its sensor-shift image stabilization (IS). This is used to give super-smooth video as well as helping to keep your shots sharp. A 12 MP 2x telephoto 48mm f/1.78 “lens” is achieved by using a sensor crop from the main camera.
Both have 100% focus pixels, which means both have edge-to-edge autofocus. The 12 MP ultra-wide lens is a 13mm f/2.2 six-element lens. The 120-degree field of view will give you GoPro-like images and video. Like the main camera, it has 100% focus pixels. The final lens on the back of the phone is a 12 MP 77mm f/2.8 six-element telephoto lens,
It has optical IS in both photo and video modes. So the camera configurations are impressive. They are certainly the best ever found on an iPhone and they rival many Android devices. But smartphone cameras are not all about lens sizes and specs. What enables your—let’s be honest—tiny smartphone camera lens to produce stunning results is the software.
- Once the light from the lens hits the sensor, smartphone manufacturers apply lots of tweaks.
- These make up for the shortcomings of lens real estate, which is smaller than a fingernail.
- One example of this is the portrait-friendly 77mm lens.
- It benefits from its large-ish maximum aperture to produce bokeh and throw the background out of focus.
But additional processing will enhance that effect. Video is well-covered on the iPhone 14 Pros. With a headline figure of 4K at up to 60 fps, you also get Apple ProRes video. And there are other modes, including Cinematic mode, which shoots at 4K HDR at 30 fps.

We’ll consider the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max together as well. The cameras are the same, with the difference being screen size and battery performance. The iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max has one of the best cameras on any smartphone, whether iOS or Android. And you get an excellent set of camera hardware and features.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 12 MP sensor resolution. And that’s for the cameras at the front and rear of the phone. The front camera has a wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/2.2. It’s nothing revolutionary. But you can snap some stunning selfies ! Other photographers will be more interested in the rear camera,
It’s a triple-camera unit with three separate lenses. There’s an ultra-wide lens with an f/1.8 aperture. There’s an f/1.5 wide-angle lens. And there’s a telephoto lens with an f/2.8 aperture to complete the trio. The three lenses give you incredible shooting options.
- It’s a versatile smartphone for photographers.
- The native camera app is packed with photography features.
- There’s a portrait mode for front and rear cameras.
- There’s depth control for accurate shooting.
- And there’s a night mode for after-dark photography,
- The Smart HDR is great for stills, but you also get HDR video recording.
The 13 Pro Max is a fantastic video camera too. You can shoot 4K Dolby Vision videos at a frame rate of 60 fps. And you also have Cinematic mode for pro-looking videos. It adds a shallow depth of field to the footage. And it can shift focus from one subject to another automatically.

The main difference between the iPhone 14 /14 Plus and the Pro versions lies in the camera. It’s immediately obvious as there is a cluster of two, not three, lenses on the back. What’s missing is the telephoto lens. And this also means there is no ProRes 4K or macro video.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max is the older version of the 13 Pro Max. We’re a few years on from the release date in 2020. But the iPhone 12 Pro Max remains one of the best iPhone cameras for photography, Apple is well aware that cameras are a big selling point in smartphones.
- And the iPhone 12 Pro Max answered that demand.
- The front and rear cameras both have a 12 MP sensor.
- You can expect impressive image quality.
- The front camera has a wide-angle lens with a large f/2.2 aperture for low light.
- It gives you light and airy self-portraits,
- And it’s great for casual blogs.
- The serious camera specs are found on the rear camera.
It’s a triple-camera unit, much like the one on the 13 Pro Max. Each iPhone camera lens has a different focal length, giving you more photography options:
An ultra-wide-angle lens has a 13mm focal length with a f/2.4 aperture A standard wide-angle lens has a 16mm focal length with an f/1.6 aperture A telephoto lens has a 52mm focal length with an f/2 aperture
The apertures aren’t as wide as those on the 13 Max Pro. But they still give you plenty of light for high-quality photography. That’s why it’s still one of the best camera phones. The camera has a 5x optical zoom, And an optical zoom means no pixelation when you zoom in.
You also have optical image stabilization to reduce camera shake, You get a handful of excellent photo modes for different lighting. These include Night, Smart HDR, and Deep Fusion modes. They improve image details and textures in medium to low light. Plus, there’s 4K Dolby Vision HDR video recording. The latest iPhone cameras have topped the 12 Pro Max,
But not by much. It remains one of the best camera phones on the market. And its age makes it a more budget-friendly option for smartphone photographers. It’s not the best iPhone camera. But it’s close.

You will notice a pattern with the iPhone 13, It’s pretty much the same as its Pro/Pro Plus siblings, but without the telephoto camera, That’s why it comes after the older 12 Pro in this review. The third camera makes the latter stand out for photography.
Will iPhone 15 have USB-C?
Charge other devices with your iPhone 15 – You can use your iPhone to charge your AirPods, Apple Watch, or another small device that supports USB Power Delivery at up to 4.5 watts.
- If you have another device with a USB-C connector, connect it to your iPhone with a USB-C cable, such as the one included with your iPhone.
- To charge a device that has a Lightning connector, connect it to your iPhone using an Apple USB-C to Lightning cable.
- Charge your Apple Watch by connecting an Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger to USB-C Cable directly to your iPhone. You can also connect a Magnetic Charging Cable to your iPhone with the Apple USB-C to USB Adapter.
Will iPhone 15 be very different?
iPhone 15: Outlook – We get why people will be especially excited for the Pro iPhone models, but there’s been enough overall improvement to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus’ specs that they look like phones you may still want to consider. (Image credit: Apple | YouTube) For one, the price remains the same as last year, except now you get a comfier design, a Dynamic Island camera cutout, a 48MP camera on the back (with 24MP photos and 2x lossless zoom) plus USB-C charging. That’s quite a few extra toys on top of the iPhone 14.
