Why is iPhone 14 not selling?

Apple is cutting the production numbers of its recently launched iPhone 14 as demand for it did not meet the company’s expectations. Its top markets, the Americas, Greater China, and Europe, are experiencing economic downturns. All smartphones manufactured globally are expected to fall from 1.39 billion to 1.36 billion.

Apple is reducing iPhone 14 production as the demand for the phone fell below expectations. The phone, released in an elaborate Apple-style launch event, is reportedly performing worse than the third-generation iPhone SE, which had its supply cut by, According to, Apple initially had plans to increase production of this year’s iPhone 14 line-up, but it has since gone back on its plan and told suppliers to cut production back by 6 million units. Tech review website also corroborated Bloomberg’s report with data from SellCell, which shows that the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are performing twice as bad as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini in the same 10-day period after launch.

  1. Demand for the iPhone 14 with 512 gigabytes of storage is the worst performer in the line-up.
  2. In the 10-days after launch, the demand for it dropped by over 40%.
  3. Interestingly, the more expensive iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max are not doing badly.
  4. In the 10-days after its launch, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has had its demand drop by just 19.6%, which is slightly better than last year’s iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Photo by on Apple’s biggest markets — the Americas, Greater China and Europe — are currently going through tough economic times. According to, the Americas is the most significant contributor to Apple’s sales. In Q3 2021, the region generated a revenue of $35.8 billion which was 44% of its revenue globally.

  1. However, inflation in the region’s biggest economy — the US — is at a 40-year high.
  2. According to, consumer confidence levels which measure the level of optimism or pessimism of consumers toward the country’s financial situation, are at a record low.
  3. Economics Professor Kenneth MacLaughlin told that one of the reasons for high inflation in the US is the injection of trillions of dollars in stimulus checks into the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Europe is another of Apple’s biggest markets, raking in $18.94 billion for the company in Q3 2021, 23.3% of the company’s revenue during the period. Like the US, Europe is also facing economic problems. The Russia-Ukraine war has reduced economic growth in the European Union by 1%.

According to the, “further trade disruptions or increased economic sanctions could plunge the European economy into recession.” Greater China, which includes China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, was responsible for 18% of Apple’s revenue in Q3 2021, generating $14.8 billion. China, the biggest smartphone market in the world, is also experiencing an economic slowdown.

Lockdown in the country’s major cities led to a 2.7% drop in its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The African smartphone market barely makes a dent in Apple’s global revenue. However, the global smartphone market is expected to shrink in 2022 to units. While Africa does not significantly impact Apple’s revenue, smartphones were shipped into the continent in Q1 2022, and Chinese smartphone manufacturer Transsion sells more phones in Africa than any other company.

Why is iPhone 14 stock so low?

Apple’s shares fell to an 18-month low this week amid iPhone supply issues and a broader downturn in the stock market. Apple’s stock closed at $126.04 on Wednesday to reach its lowest mark since June 2021, and still remains within that territory. Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn has faced iPhone production constraints due to COVID-19-related issues over the past few months. Last month, workers protested at Foxconn’s main iPhone factory in Zhengzhou, China over poor working conditions stemming from COVID-19 restrictions.

While the Chinese government has since started to ease some restrictions, increased spread of the virus has led to labor shortages at Foxconn. Last month, Apple issued a rare public warning stating that iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max shipments would be lower than it previously anticipated due to the restrictions that were in place at Foxconn at the time.

Earlier this week, Taiwanese research firm TrendForce said the capacity utilization rate of Foxconn’s factory had yet to rise above 70% since the production issues began. The situation has primarily impacted the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max given stronger demand for those devices, resulting in multi-week shipping delays.

  1. The standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models are both in stock on Apple’s online store.
  2. Due to the COVID-19-related issues, economic uncertainty, and the weeklong Chinese New Year holiday next month, TrendForce believes that the iPhone production issues will continue into early 2023 and lowered its iPhone shipment forecast for all models to 47 million units in the first quarter of the year, down from 52 million.

Apple briefly achieved a $3 trillion valuation earlier this year, but the company’s market cap is now closer to the $2 trillion mark again.

Is iPhone 14 success or failure?

Apple’s strategy with the iPhone – First of all, let’s recap Apple’s strategy with the iPhone in recent years. Since 2017, the company had been introducing three different iPhones. First, there were the mid-range iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, while iPhone X was the high-end version. Compared to its more expensive siblings, iPhone 12 mini has never been considered a huge success. Most customers seemed to prefer large screen phones, and for only $100 more they could buy the regular iPhone 12, which had a larger screen and battery. Apple tried to give the iPhone mini another chance in 2021 with iPhone 13 mini, this time with a slightly larger battery.

But that wasn’t enough to drive sales up. Some people (and perhaps Apple itself) believed that a mid-range, larger-screen iPhone would be more successful than the iPhone mini. And in 2022, Apple killed the iPhone mini and replaced it with the iPhone 14 Plus, which has the same 6.7-inch screen size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but for a lower price.

But it turns out that iPhone 14 Plus is another commercial failure. According to multiple reports from industry sources, demand for the iPhone 14 Plus is really low, Reliable analyst Ross Young said that display shipments for the Plus model in December was “close to 0.” So what happened?

Is Apple losing popularity?

  • There was the March 2023 launch of the yellow iPhone 14, but that was a mid-cycle refresh with nothing other than the color updated.
  • Sales of Apple’s iPhone 14 and especially the iPhone 14 Plus have regularly reported to have been poorer than those of the iPhone 14 Pro.
  • Even so, at the start of Q1, it was claimed that the overall iPhone 14 range was than the iPhone 13 models had at the same point a year earlier.

Plus Canalys says there remained “solid demand for iPhone 14 Pro series.” Apple’s position was helped by it finally reaching supply/demand parity in, The overall smartphone market decline means all firms are selling fewer phones, but there has been a more positive increase in market share for Apple.

Is an iPhone 14 Pro worth it?

If having the best cameras, a super-smooth display and the versatile Dynamic Island are important to you, the iPhone 14 Pro is well worth the investment.

How much will iPhone 15 Pro Max cost?

Latest iPhone 15 Pro Max news – The iPhone 15 Pro Max was announced on September 12 at the “Wonderlust” event. The iPhone 15 series as well as the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and the Apple Watch Series 9 were also announced at the keynote. The iPhone 15 Pro Max will be officially released on the market on Friday, September 22, with pre-orders kicking off on Friday, September 15.

  • There are already some very promising iPhone 15 Pro Max deals available.
  • Surely, more will roll out in the days immediately before the market release of Apple’s super-advanced new iPhone.
  • This schedule is in line with Apple’s tradition of unveiling its new iPhones at a dedicated hardware-centric keynote that normally takes place in early September each year, usually on the second Tuesday of the month.

Subsequently, the newly-announced devices hit the market roughly ten days later, on a Friday, one of the most important opening weekends for an Apple device. The dreaded iPhone price hike didn’t take place: the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at $1,199 for the entry-level 256GB version, which is the same pricing as last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max enjoyed.

Ergo, the 512GB version starts at $1399, while the range-topping 1TB variation of the phone can be yours for $1599. Notable is the omission of a 128GB version of the device, which cost $1099 on the iPhone 14 Pro Max last year. It’s worth noting that rumors about a price hike have always circulated prior to the official release of a new iPhone family, with Apple eventually shushing our all rumors by revealing the same unchanged pricing as the previous year.

This has happened before, and obviously, has happened in 2023 as well.

: Hello, yellow! Apple introduces new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus

Will iPhone 14 be available today?

About the iPhone 14 – Apple released the iPhone 14 worldwide on Sept.16, 2022, including the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 Plus will be released Oct.7, 2022. While the base iPhone 14 is mostly a performance upgrade over the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 Pro features an upgraded camera with higher resolution and a more powerful zoom lens.

The iPhone 14 Pro also swaps out the familiar notch for a cutout, or “hole punch,” in the display itself. Instead of trying to hide the cutout, Apple decided in iOS 16 to make it part of the user interface. Called Dynamic Island, notifications like calls, texts, and other helpful information seemingly pop out of the cutout.

Also new is emergency SOS satellite connectivity, which allows you to contact help without cellular service using satellite communications. Read on for more information about the iPhone 14. How often does Apple Store restock iPhone 14?

What Day of the Week Do Apple Stores Restock? – Apple restocks generally occur daily in brick-and-mortar stores, but although most items are quickly restocked, it isn’t always guaranteed that the one you want will be a part of a shipment or made available again any time soon. In any case, shipments that arrive usually go on sale relatively quickly, often before the next business day.

Is iPhone 14 available in the market?

iPhone 14 Plus available in stores Friday iPhone 14 Plus, featuring a 6.7-inch display, an upgraded dual-camera system, Crash Detection, Emergency SOS via satellite, A15 Bionic, and the best battery life ever in an iPhone, arrives at Apple Store locations and Apple Authorised Resellers starting Friday, October 7.

Customers who pre-ordered iPhone 14 Plus online will also begin receiving deliveries Friday. In-store and online, visitors will be able to experience the full iPhone 14 lineup with help from Apple Specialists ready to offer personalised support and advice. “iPhone 14 Plus brings the larger 6.7-inch display and the best battery life ever on an iPhone to more people,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing.

“This is a great option for customers who want a much larger screen in a light and durable aluminium design with big enhancements to all cameras, excellent performance, essential safety capabilities, and 5G. Whether a customer is upgrading to a new iPhone or trying iPhone for the first time, iPhone 14 Plus is a huge upgrade and an unbeatable choice.” iPhone 14 Plus features a durable and sophisticated aerospace-grade aluminium design in five beautiful colours — midnight, blue, starlight, purple, and (PRODUCT)RED.1 With an expansive 6.7-inch 2 Super Retina XDR display, iPhone 14 Plus is great for seeing more content on-screen, having a larger canvas for on-the-go photo and video editing, and watching TV and movies.

And the larger display, combined with A15 Bionic with a 5-core GPU — faster than the competition at any price point — makes iPhone 14 Plus a go-to device for gaming, revealing beautiful graphics that can run at higher frame rates for longer periods of time, thanks to an updated internal design that has better thermal dissipation for better sustained performance and easier repairability, all while offering the best battery life ever in an iPhone.3 With industry-leading durability features, iPhone 14 Plus is also protected by the Ceramic Shield front cover — exclusive to iPhone — and from common spills and accidents with water and dust resistance.4 The advanced camera system on iPhone 14 Plus boasts a giant leap in low-light performance thanks to Photonic Engine, the new enhanced image pipeline.

Photonic Engine applies Deep Fusion earlier in the imaging process, delivering brighter, more true-to-life colors and beautifully detailed textures in mid- to lower-light scenes. This benefits photos across all cameras, delivering 2x better low-light performance on the Ultra Wide camera and new front TrueDepth camera, and 2.5x on the new Main camera.
